Swae Lee was born Khalif Malik Ibn Shaman Brown on 7th June 1993, in Inglewood, California. He was raised in Tupelo, Mississippi by his mother alone.

His mother Bernadette Walker was working in the US Army. Brown attended city public school with his brother Slim Jzmmi.

During high school days, Brown, his brother, and Lil Pantz started to record music by the name Dem Outta St8 Boyz. After completing graduation they signed to EarDrummers Entertainment.

Career

With Ear drummer Entertainment they released three successful albums i.e. SremmLife, SremmLife 2, and SR3MM. In 2015, Lee released his first single “Drink on Us”  featuring rapper Future and The Weekend.

The same year he also appeared on Wiz Khalifa’s Burn Slow which reached at #83 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and it became Brown’s first solo entry on the chart.

In 2017, he released another hit single TR666 with Trippie Redd. Brown was also featured on Jhene Aiko’s Sativa and French Montana’s Unforgettable which peaked at #3 on the Hot 100 chart.

His debut studio album Swaecation released in 2018 became his first successful album. That album received many positive reviews and earned him worldwide attention.

Right after releasing his first album, Brown collaborated with many popular rappers for the songs Arms Around You (feat. Lil Pump), Sunflower, Close to Me, and Crave (by Madonna).

Recently he released the song Won’t Be Late with Tekno and Mike Will featuring rapper Drake. In 2020, Swae Lee released two superhit music tracks  Reality Check and Someone Said (a reworked version of Travis  Scott‘s Sicko Mode).
