Jeffrey Preston Jorgensen was born on 12 January 1964, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  His mother’s name is  Jacklyn Gise Jorgensen (a high school student) and his father’s name is Ted Jorgensen (a bike shop owner).

When he was only 4 years old, his parents divorced and his mother married Mike Bezos in 1968. After the marriage Mike adopted Bezos and his surname changed to Bezos. Bezos grew in Houston, Texas, where his father worked as an engineer.

Bezos attended River Oaks Elementary School in Houston and Miami Palmetto High School in Florida for his primary education. While studying in high school he worked as a cook at McDonald’s.

Bezos was a highly-talented student in his school he won many competitions and scholarship programs. In 1982, Bezos awarded by Silver Knight Award and National Merit Scholar. In 1986, Bezos graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and computer science.

After completing his degree, Bezos got job offers from several companies. He first worked as head of development and director of customer service at Fitel, a telecommunication start-up. Then from 1988 to 1990, Bezos worked at Bankers Trust in the position of product manager.

In 1990, Bezos left the job at Bankers Trust and joined a newly founded company D.E. Shaw & Co. He worked hard for the company and at the age of 30, he became the senior vice-president of the company.

At the end of 1993, Bezos planned to start something on his own and left his job at D.E. Shaw. In July 1994, he founded an online bookstore in his garage named Cadabra later the name changed to Amazon. He brought $300,000 from his parents and invested in Amazon.

Many business persons told there was a 70% chance that Amazon would fail or go bankrupt. But, Amazon grew successfully with a large number of sales and expanded to other products also.

In 2002, Bezos launched Amazon Web Services (AWS) for collecting data from weather channels and website traffic. At the end of the year, Amazon nearly faced bankrupt but Bezos’s efforts not only saved the company and also made a profit of $400 million.
