Limeroad is an online market place or an e-commerce startup in India which is owned by A.M. marketplaces Pvt Ltd. The company has its headquarter is in Gurgaon, Haryana. It is founded by Suchi Mukherjee and Ankush Mehra in the year 2012.

And it made history as it is India’s first women’s social shopping website it sales clothes and accessories for women, men, and kids. Limeroad is competing with e-commerce companies in India like Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, Myntra, Jabong, Voonik, etc. So, let’ take a look at how Suchi Mukherjee started Limeroad.

Suchi Mukherjee is an Indian businesswoman who is the founder and CEO of an Indian e-commerce and lifestyle startup named Limeroad. Such Mukherjee was born in 1973 in India.

She has completed her Bachelor’s degree in Arts with specialization in economics and Maths from Cambridge University and Suchi also completed his master’s degree in Economics and Finance from London School of economics.

After completing Master’s she started her career with Lehman Brothers Inc in 1998 as their senior associates for corporate finance. She worked in Lehman Brothers Inc for almost 5 years and focused on getting knowledge from business sectors.

And she joined Virgin Media company in 2003 as their director of change and business development. Suchi was also one of their consumer division management team member.

She worked in this company for more than 2 years. Suchi was always ready to grab new opportunities, as a result, she decided to leave Virgin Media and joined an e-commerce business giant eBay Inc.

This decision gave him more knowledge about e-commerce market place and functioning of a business. She had positioned in the company as the head of business seller program and CS in the year 2006 and Suchi was also a member of their UK operating management team.

She also worked for Skype as their Director and member of the executive management team. Skype was back then a part of eBay company. After becoming the executive management team member Suchi learned the power of leadership development skills and got a sharp vision and knowledge about e-commerce business model also how to increase its market value.

After working for 2 years in that position Suchi got another opportunity and promoted as the new Managing Director for “Gumtree” which was also a part of eBay company.

From these opportunities, such learned so much about the business model and how to run it now Suchi was completely capable to understand an e-commerce business model.

Later this experience gave her a complete idea about to start her own business. Suchi is living in Haryana with his HUsband and two children and it was very tough for her to manage his corporate and personal life but she never gave up and now she is the proud CEO of Limeroad.

HOW LIMEROAD STARTED

Suchi was now working for one of the top and most reputed organization eBay Inc and was living the dream of many but she always wanted to do something of her own. As a result, she co-founded Limeroad in the year 2012 with Ankush Mehra and Manish Saksena.

Limeroad is a fashion and lifestyle marketplace for women. The name of the company is inspired by Grand Trunk Road. While working at eBay Inc in various position Suchi learned how to raise fund for business.

And also how to create a better market place for her company. And that experience of such raised a funding of $5 million for Limeroad from Matrix Partners and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

The journey of Limeroad started from that day when they got their first funding in the early stage and it helped them to expand their business and provide their services in other cities of India.

Limeroad also raised funding of US $15 million and the US $30 million from Tiger Global, Matrix Partners and Lightspeed Venture Partners in 2012 and 2014 respectively. Limeroad provides some of the most innovative, unique and interesting lifestyle products across categories like home, clothing, and accessories for women, kids, and men.

People love to shop with Limeroad because of its unique concept, designer dresses and accessories created a separate marketplace for them but there are so many other e-commerce startups in India which were already created their market place before Limeroad was lunched.

Although Suchi never gave up he tokes her company to a level to compete with India’s e-commerce giants. Limeroad competes with those e-commerce companies in India like Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, Myntra, Jabong, Voonik, and Roposo.

In 2015 Limeroad won the award of coolest Startup of the year and Suchi Mukherjee also won Infocom Woman of the year – Digital business. Limeroad also gets awarded as Unicorn startup and ET startup by NDTV and The Economic Times respectively.

Now at the age of 46 Suchi Mukherjee is the proud CEO of Limeroad and inspiration of many women who want to do something innovative and her own. Limeroad is now a successful e-commerce startup in India.
