Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas was born on 13th October 1980, in Glen Cove, New York City. Her father Ken-Kaide Thomas Douglas, is a former singer and mother Tina Douglas, who is a former dance teacher.

Ashanti released her second album Chapter II (2003), which was also peaked at number one on the U.S Billboard 200 album chart and sold over 350K copies in its first week. The album includes super hit singles Rock With U and Rain On Me.

By the end of 2003, Ashanti released an album on Christmas titled, Ashanti’s Christmas, the album was also a commercial success for her career. Her fourth album Concrete Rose (2004), ranked in the top 10 positions on the U.S and other countries.

Later on, Ashanti released several hit singles and successful albums including The Declaration, Brave Heart, Don’t Let Them, Only U, and others. She is also a successful actress and worked on several blockbuster movies including John Tucker Must Die, and  Resident Evil: Extinction.
